This is only one way to build a lightbox.I am in no way responsible for the outcome of your project if you attempt this, this also means cut fingers and other injurys, attempt at your own risk and follow all safety precautions for using tools.
I do not recommend putting your prized posters in a lightbox, fading and handling and such will ruin them, but we all get the occasional DS posters that have been badly shipped and are virtually worthless or you may see that nice DS poster that is nice but the edges are crap. These are great for the lightbox!
Materials needed
For the backing i used 1/4 inch mirante plywood cut 42 1/4" x 28 3/8".For the sides i used 1/2 inch pine board ripped into two legnths of 2 1/4" x42 1/4" for the sides, and two legnths of 28 3/8" x 2 1/4" for the bottom and top.I also cut four wedges for added stregnth to be added on the corners.I used an air nailer and glue(caulking tube of wood glue) to attach everything together as well as foil tape, rope lights and a diffuser light panel(plastic).
Basic tools used were a caulking gun, square, measuring tape, utility knife mitre box and if you have access to one, a small compresser and air nailer.
As you can see in the pics below the plywood was laid out flat. The two sides plus the top and bottom pine boards which hopefully you have already ripped to the above measurements, now need the 45 degree angles cut on the ends.I started by applying a thin bead of glue to the bottom of one of the sides(board) and placing it along the longer adge of the plywood so the 45 degree ends come flush with the end of the plywood.Nail the board onto the plywood and then attach either the top or bottom next in the same manner so as to make a finished corner.Next add the wedge in for stregnth with glue and a nails.
